We are seeking a
Digital Content Writer (Content Designer)
to join our client's team. You will be responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading copy for public-facing digital channels. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary design teams to develop innovative, human-centric content that delivers a best-in-class user experience. The ideal candidate will leverage strategic insights, business goals, and user needs to connect with clients through a brand personality that is trustworthy, helpful, and friendly.

Your primary focus is to follow, create, and maintain editorial standards, ensuring all content is fully optimized, on-brand, meets user and business goals, and maintains a consistent voice and tone. You will deliver cohesive and compelling copy while applying SEO tactics and knowledge of accessibility best practices and inclusive writing principles.

This is a 6-month contract with possibility for extension, and requires the talent to work on a hybrid basis at our client's office in downtown Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of the editorial process throughout a project's lifecycle, which includes supporting translation efforts.
  • Write, edit, and proofread original (and supplied) copy, ensuring it is accurate, on brand, and meets business objectives.
  • Ensure content meets style/brand, voice/tone, and quality standards, applying clarity, conciseness, plain language principles, and accessibility requirements.
  • Conduct content walkthroughs with project teams and external stakeholders, such as marketing teams, regulatory groups, and Legal.
  • Proactively move pages through the editorial workflow, collecting signoffs, authoring in the CMS, and following version controls.
  • Support projects in their initial phase, conducting content strategy tasks and UX research as needed, including competitive research and wireframe copy.
  • Build pages in the CMS, performing tasks/skills consistently, accurately, and independently, and troubleshoot and address defects.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders, always advocating for good content.
  • Remain current on emerging web technologies, accessibility standards, mobile applications, and SEO.
  • (Senior Content Designer) Demonstrate initiative and expertise to proactively drive site-wide enhancements outside of regular project work.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    5+ years of related experience in a content editor, content design, UX writing, or editorial environment.
  • Style Proficiency:
    Excellent working knowledge of CP Style.
  • Digital Writing:
    Experience writing for web and/or digital properties.
  • Education:
    A degree in English, Marketing, Journalism, or Technical Writing with strong language skills (or equivalent work experience).
  • Communication:
    Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, for liaising with and presenting content to stakeholders.
  • Tech Savvy:
    Open to learning new technologies, such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) CMS, Confluence/Jira.
  • Nice-to-Have:
    Previous banking experience, experience with AEM or similar CMS, familiarity with content strategy and inclusive writing principles, and working knowledge of SEO and user experience.
