About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Account Executive to support corporate affairs and reputation assignments. You will collaborate within the team, support on corporate, reputation and crisis files, and execute tactics inclusive of traditional, social media and emerging public relations tactics. The Senior Account Executive will work with some of the world's most renowned brands to deliver corporate communications programs.
In this role, you will have responsibility for a variety of activities, including contributing to corporate communication strategies and campaigns, developing messaging and content, creating presentation materials, issues monitoring, influencer vetting, conducting research and continuing to build Zeno's growing Corporate Affairs offering.
Candidates applying for this role should be skilled at writing/editing and project management, be detail-oriented, and have a strong understanding of corporate communications tools/channels, employee engagement, executive/leadership communications, crisis communications, issues management and thought leadership. The candidate must also be willing to speak up, learn, collaborate, contribute effectively, and travel when needed.
The Senior Account Executive will work closely with senior-level team members to implement reputation management programs for Zeno clients across Canada. In addition, the role will include new business proposal support, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the intellectual capital for the firm. You will work as part of a team on a variety of accounts, in industry sectors such as consumer, health and wellness, technology, professional services and B2B.
You will succeed at Zeno if you are confident, resourceful, tenacious. You live and breathe the social conversation in Canada – knowing what is going on, and how current events are impacting Canadians lives and how these impacts can support or hinder our communications work. You have an understanding of traditional and non-traditional public relations tactics and are deeply intrenched in the Canadian media and social media landscape.
Responsibilities
- Support on issues and crisis related mandates for clients
- Tactical execution of communications campaigns including event planning and management, content writing, project management, media pitching, community management and reporting
- Writing/editing across a wide variety of client deliverables – including communications plans, scripts, talk tracks, and thought leadership pieces
- Support in the development of and execution of thought leadership programs for senior leaders and executives
- Execute and oversee monitoring programs
- Execute research projects for client program
- Understand key competitors and their business strategies
- Understand key client industry issues relating to products, product categories, technologies, primary and potential competition and general issues facing the industry
- Work across geographics and practice areas
- Understands client tone of voice, brand standards and apply them consistently across client work
- Use SEO best practices and writing for digital properties (e.g., blogs, newsletters, emails.)
- Be willing collaborator and contributor; quick on your feet; excited to learn; not afraid to ask questions or make suggestions/recommendations
About You
- 3 or more years of experience in public relations, corporate communications and/or social media; agency experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree (communications, public relations, journalism or related preferred)
- Collaborative spirit, results driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work against deadlines
- Strong background in corporate communications
- Exceptional writing skills
- Can translate strategic priorities into compelling communications tailored to specific audience segment
- Brings critical and creative thinking to solve communications challenges and meet objectives
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to identify competing priorities/escalate when appropriate
- Results-driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work against tight deadlines, troubleshoot, and propose solutions
- Comfortable delegating responsibilities both above and below your level, overseeing quality, and ensuring deadline and budget adherence
- Strong business acumen, demonstrating understanding of financial reports, ability to draft scopes of work, and contribute to budget development
- Understanding of internal communications tools and technology (ex: Firstup/SocialChorus, Qualtrics, Workplace, Yammer, SharePoint, etc.)
- Experience working directly with clients and actively participating in client meetings; professional presence
- Experience in CPG, food and beverage, energy and industrials, B2B, tech, and/or health preferred
