The Company

Headquartered in Vancouver BC, with smaller offices in Chile, and China and field operations across Canada and the US, BQE Water Inc. offers industry leading expertise and unique technological solutions for treating wastewater from mining and metallurgical operations that enable environmentally responsible and socially acceptable extraction of natural resources globally. After a period of exciting, rapid growth, the business is looking to hire a Director, Talent Development for strategic influence and organizational impact to ensure continued sustainable growth of the organization primarily in North America and Latin America. At this stage the company needs to establish and deploy systems and tools to support workforce development, talent management, and coaching to align with the company culture, organizational strategy, and operational realities. The Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO, and working alongside an HR Business Partner (HRBP), the Director of Talent Development's duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Partner with executives and departmental leadership to understand and anticipate organizational nuanced talent needs, historical experience, and talent implications of strategic growth targets.
  • Support department leads during the design and implementation of suitable, repeatable, and scalable performance review metrics and systems to enable strong talent management and utilization.
  • Promote best practices by developing and leading company-wide actionable strategies, promotion of effective policies, adoption of high standards in data collection, analysis, reporting, to support talent optimization and utilization company wide.
  • Undertake strategic workforce planning by overseeing learning and development programs, while maintaining updated analytics for future staffing and skill requirements to meet business goals.
  • Design and implement frameworks for career progression and internal mobility company-wide, collaborating with leaders to close skills gaps across teams, while aligning career goals with organizational objectives.
  • Provide executive coaching and leadership development for managers, senior leaders, and high-potential talent - e.g., through workshops, feedback sessions, and growth plans -producing coaching frameworks and tools that are adaptable across functions and levels to target continuous performance, team dynamics, retention, and professional growth.
  • Stay current on industry trends, integrating best practices into internal efforts, crafting talent pipelines for emerging roles and technologies.
  • Identify new tools, software, automations, or AI applications that may enhance the usability, scalability, quality or efficiency of talent development programs and process.
  • Address - and predict where applicable - employee relations issues that pose a risk to retention, particularly within critical roles and skill areas, implementing proactive strategies that support long-term employee satisfaction and organizational stability.
  • Create a positive work environment by consistently embedding the culture, mission, DE&I considerations, and ethical practices into talent-focused programs and processes.
  • Support the HRBP in the development of recognition programs with demonstratable impacts on long-term employee motivation, engagement, and retention.
  • Collaborate with the HRBP to align HR functionalities with talent strategies e.g. targeted recruitment schedules.
  • Stay informed on evolving talent-related legislation, compliance standards, and workforce regulations across federal and provincial jurisdictions. Ensure all talent development initiatives, coaching practices, and employee engagement strategies align with current employment laws, privacy standards, and workplace safety requirements
  • Measure talent program effectiveness, refining based on business impact.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership and senior managements to foster strategic alignment and support, providing strategic input into business decisions using a structured, data-driven approach to achieving consensus.
  • Other related duties as required.

Requirements

· 8+ years of progressive HR leadership, with 3+ years in an executive or senior management role incorporating talent review and strategic planning.

· Background in organizational development and succession planning.

· CPHR designation or equivalent.

· Proven track record coaching leadership and high-potential talent.

· Extensive knowledge of employment laws and legislation.

· Strong relationship-building, leadership and interpersonal skills, conflict resolution confidence, and a positive and agile work approach.

· Experience in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization.

· Familiarity with engineering and technical innovation industries is an asset.

Pay: $140,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
