The Coquihalla Primary Care Clinic provides full-scope, all-ages, integrated, team-based primary care with a focus on both Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations in Merritt and the surrounding Nlaka'pamux Nation. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with Family Physicians, Registered Nurses, Medical Office Assistants, and various community agencies to deliver multidisciplinary, comprehensive, and holistic patient-centered care in a culturally safe manner.

We are seeking a 1.0 FTE Family Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care services. The Coquihalla Primary Care Clinic operates five days a week, year-round, from 08:30 – 16:00, with variable scheduling to support extended coverage as needed.

Salary Range: Salary range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications in line with the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice and regulatory standards.

Care Management: Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.

Patient Communication: Establish care priorities, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.

Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.

Prescribing Medication: Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical treatments.

Leadership and Supervision: Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations to support professional development.

Research and Innovation: Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices. Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.

Health Promotion:Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at-risk populations to prevent illness and promote well-being.

Education and Mentorship: Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration in clinical and community settings. Support continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Policy Development: Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.

Palliative and Long-Term Care: Serve as the most responsible provider for patients in palliative, hospice, and long-term care settings when required.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure compliance with training and incident investigation protocols.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.

Education: Master's degree in Nursing (NP) or equivalent.

Certification: Current Nurse Practitioner certification with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, with the ability to diagnose, treat, and manage patient care is considered an asset.
