Position: Safety Officer

Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview: We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Safety Officer to support our construction company. This role oversees the company's safety program, employee training, fleet compliance, and key administrative tasks that keep our operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Management
- Maintain and update safety program including policies, safe work practices/job procedures, hazard assessments, etc.
- Coordinate our Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
- Track corrective actions, inspections, and safety documentation using safety software
- Manage items related to our company's COR safety certification
- Maintain inventory of safety supplies and procure additional supplies as needed
Onboarding and Training Staff
- Manage onboarding paperwork for new staff
- Track staff certifications and schedule new training as required
Fleet & Equipment Management
- Ensure vehicles/equipment have up-to-date MVIs, permits, insurance, and safety gear
- Support digital fleet management systems (e.g., Motive).
- Maintain service records and fleet documentation.
WCB & Incident Management
- Submit WCB claim reports and manage cases including return-to-work processes
- Support investigation and corrective action processes after incidents.
Administrative Duties
- Assist with tender searches and basic tender preparation.
- Support winter maintenance program tasks (client communication, route creation, service tracking and invoicing).
- Provide general administrative support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in safety coordination, administration, or construction is an asset
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Proficient with computers and technology
- Must hold a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle
