The Partner Financial Services team, a critical component of our global Fintech pillar, is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Back-End Engineer. You'll be an integral part of our team, contributing to core services that power partner payments and financial operations across the entire global Just Eat Takeaway network. Working within an inner-source environment where cross-team collaboration is key, this role is perfect for a well-rounded and proactive engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment where speed to market and reliability are paramount for our worldwide operations.

Reporting to: Technology Manager

• Own Microservice Development (Java 21): Design, build, and extend core financial microservices using modern Java, directly addressing global business needs.

• Drive System Architecture: Design reliable, scalable solutions utilizing microservices, REST, and message-driven patterns.

• Lead Quality & Mentorship: Champion code quality through rigorous reviews and actively mentor peers to elevate team performance.

• Support Inner Source: Collaborate closely with other teams, sharing knowledge and contributing to shared components and best practices as part of our inner-source-first approach.

• Infrastructure as Code: Maintain existing and develop new infrastructure resources on AWS using Terraform.

• Product Collaboration: Partner with the product team, offering technical expertise and insights to shape the future of our products.

• Ensure Global Reliability: Participate in paid on-call rotations to maintain the high availability of critical financial services.

• Share Learnings: Proactively share knowledge, insights, and best practices with the team and across departments.

• 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a Senior role.

• Be curious, with a strong appetite for new knowledge.

• Deep expertise in System Design, Reliability Engineering, and Performance Optimization.

• Strong fundamentals in data structures, design patterns, testing, and debugging.

• Extensive professional experience with Java.

• Expertise in Microservices architecture and Docker containers.

• Experience with message brokers.

• Hands-on experience with core AWS services (ECS, EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS).

• Experience with system monitoring and logging using tools like DataDog and AWS CloudWatch.

• Experience with data persistence using relational databases (MySQL/Postgres).

• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure-as-a-Code (Terraform).

• Experience with modern CI/CD practices and tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and Git version control.

• Proven experience mentoring/influencing peers and a passion for teamwork and code reviews.

• Proven track record as a proactive self-starter who identifies opportunities for improvement and drives new solutions.

• Experience with C# development, with a strong understanding of the .NET ecosystem.

• Experience with Typescript/React development.

• Direct experience within the Fintech domain.

• Experience with workflow management tools ).
