Position Summary

As the Sales & Purchasing Clerk, you will report directly to the Senior Buyer & Key Account Manager and provide support to both the Sales and Purchasing teams.

The Sales & Purchasing Clerk supports the purchasing function by coordinating the procurement of fresh produce and related supplies to ensure consistent product availability, quality, and cost control. This role requires strong attention to detail, timely communication with suppliers, and effective management of purchasing and inventory systems to meet daily operational demands.

The ideal candidate is passionate about food and farming, eager to identify business opportunities, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Work pace may vary with daily, weekly, and seasonal demands.

Job Duties

  • Provide support to key account representatives in executing purchasing strategies.
  • Process daily sales orders for existing clientele.
  • Conduct bi-weekly inventory reviews to ensure accuracy and adequate stock levels.
  • Create purchase orders under the supervision of the Senior Buyer.
  • Complete clerical work related to IFCO, CHEP, and similar programs in a timely manner.
  • Generate sales reports and maintain price lists as directed.
  • Assist with domestic and cross-border logistics and documentation of produce shipments.
  • Provide backfill support for other roles as needed to support the Sales and Purchasing team.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in purchasing, inventory, or food distribution preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel; familiarity with sales and accounting software is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of work are Mon-Fri from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm nominally but will fluctuate based on business and seasonal demands.
  • May require some weekend or off schedule hours for backfilling other roles
  • Office-based with regular interaction with warehouse operations.
  • Caring and professional atmosphere.
  • Group benefits are available after completion of the probationary period.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
