Montreal, Quebec, Canada ALTO Full time

At Alto, we are actively contributing to the transformation of Canada's future with our high-speed train project connecting Quebec City and Toronto. With the support of the Government of Canada, this innovative project aims to improve the quality of life of our citizens, strengthen ties between communities and stimulate economic growth.

Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge? We are looking for a Senior Director, Contract Administration. Please note that the candidate may be based in one of our 4 offices: Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto or Ottawa with a preference for the Montreal Office.

The role

The Senior Director, Contract Administration, reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, leads the Contract Administration function for the Alto High-Speed Rail project, with a primary focus on the Pre-Development Agreement (PDA) governing the Co-Development Phase. This role involves collaborating with Cadence—a consortium of private sector partners—to advance project design, conduct community consultations, obtain regulatory approvals, and manage land acquisitions. The Senior Director provides strategic advice, oversees contract interpretation and compliance, supports commercial strategy, and promotes cross-functional collaboration to drive value and ensure successful project execution.

The responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance on contract management and commercial matters to the Commercial team and other project functions.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Cadence and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and the development of effective solutions.
  • Lead and mentor the contract management team, focusing on best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Enhance and oversee contract management tools, systems, and procedures for effective monitoring of PDA activities.
  • Monitor Cadence's performance and procurement activities to ensure adherence to PDA terms.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks and support the resolution of disputes with the Legal team.
  • Contribute to the negotiation, development, and implementation of agreements for construction and O&M phases, and review Cadence's delivery strategy.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and briefings for Alto's leadership and Board of Directors.

The requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or law, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including contract management for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with public-private partnerships and collaborative delivery models is essential (progressive P3, IPD, Alliancing, etc.).
  • Strong relationship building, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills are required.
  • Detail-oriented, action-driven and result-focused combined with rigor.
  • Ability to adapt to an evolving environment.
  • Bilingualism (English and French), both spoken and written, is considered an asset.
  • Flexibility is required, as the role involves travel between Toronto and Montreal.

Why join our innovative team?

  • Basic paid group insurance for you and your family: medical, dental, life, disability, etc.
  • Access to wellness and health accounts to support your lifestyle.
  • Flex-Alto account of $500 to encourage a healthier approach and a more sustainable mode of transportation.
  • A retirement plan and savings options (RRSP and TFSA).
  • Vacations based on experience, available upon hiring.
  • An incentive compensation program.
  • Flexible hybrid work mode.
  • A work environment that encourages initiative, innovation, and forward-thinking solutions.
  • A unique opportunity to shape the future of transportation in Canada.
