NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. The Electrode Quality Technician will be onsite within NextStar Energy LLC (Stellantis/LGES Battery Joint Venture) in Windsor, Ontario. The preferred candidate will be responsible for ensuring electrode samples taken from our production lines meet all safety and quality standards. Candidate must possess critical-thinking skills with an ability to make decisions under pressure. The individual must have strong leadership skills and be able to adapt in a fast pace, high technology business model, coupled with good communication, organization, and people skills.
Responsibilities:
- Operate with an 'inspect, diagnose, report and repair' mindset.
- Measure and ensure that all electrode samples from the production line meet our set specification utilizing laboratory methods.
- Document and communicate any identified defects on sample materials. Collect defective samples and secure them in designated areas.
- Accomplish our Quality team's and organization's mission by completing related results as needed.
- Verify and perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibrations and maintenance for all equipment are complete and properly documented.
- Report investigation, test, and containment results in a clear, concise, and timely manner to the appropriate Supervisor, and record the results within designated software.
- Verify correct data to ensure a quality product.
- Being self-directed to work individually on tasks while communicating with your team.
- Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activity.
- Analyze data from measuring devices.
- Complete daily documentation and audits, as required by the position.
- Ensure work is completed in a safe manner & maintain a safe working environment.
- Utilize a variety of required PPE to ensure your safety within the plant, during the electrode process. Our positions require at least some and up to all of the following: nitrile gloves, cut resistant gloves, lab coat, coveralls, safety glasses, safety shoes, N95 Particulate masks, P100 respirator masks, bump caps, etc.
- Adhere to general, and position-specific, dress code requirements.
- Participate in, and successfully complete, all training requirements.
- Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required.
- Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting.
- Maintain cleanliness at worksite in accordance with 3R5S Standards.
- Removing products that don't meet production standards and recommending strategies to improve product quality.
- Accepting or rejecting electrode materials and discussing inspection results with the production team.
- Perform inspections using hazardous chemicals, ensure proper handling and storage of the chemicals are followed according to our safety standards.
- Maintain and coordinate reagent & supply inventory/ordering with the appropriate Supervisor.
Requirements:
- 2-3 year College Diploma or Bachelors degree required.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills, energetic and enthusiasm with a positive outlook required; possess strong emotional intelligence (interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills).
- Exceptional organizational skills and resourcefulness with a demonstrated ability to work in an accurate manner.
- Willing to participate in training, especially technical and/or problem-solving related.
- Basic math skills are required.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, graphs, manuals, and measurements is required.
- Analytical skills, attention to detail & laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience with quality control techniques such as Six Sigma preferred.
- Experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
- Experienced in MS Office Tools (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is preferred.
- Experience with quality and process control in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Working understanding of basic statistical concepts and methods.
- Highly skilled in complex problem solving and root cause analysis techniques preferred.
- Exceptional written, verbal, organization, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to remain in low humidity & temperature-controlled environments for extended periods of time, while wearing all required PPE is required.
- Experience using chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques is preferred.
