Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Head of Engineering in our gaming company. As the Head of Engineering, you will oversee, manage, and develop a team of Front-end and Back-end developers, and QA professionals (manual and automation) (overall team of 40+ and growing). Your primary focus will be on operational efficiency, team development and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality gaming products and projects while implementing effective Scrum processes. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strong business acumen, a background in project management , a passion for mentoring to build high-performing teams that deliver scalable solutions and the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of professionals.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, strategic and tactical direction to the Engineering team 

• Oversee the end-to-end delivery processes and projects ensuring successful product launches and project execution based on business prioritization.

• Manage and prioritize the team's workload, ensuring project deadlines are met and resources are optimally allocated.

• Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate business requirements into viable, robust technical solutions.

• Drive adoption of best practices in agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, code quality, and emerging technologies relevant to the industry (e.g., AI integration, real-time systems etc). 

• Monitor key performance metrics for engineering output, system reliability, and project delivery, making data-driven decisions to mitigate risks and optimize processes.

• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, security protocols, and industry standards in a gaming context.

• Mentor and develop team leads and individual contributors, providing coaching on technical skills, leadership, and career/professional growth.

• Promote an inclusive, innovative culture that encourages knowledge sharing, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

• Recruit and onboard top engineering talent to scale the team as the company grows

• Monitor relevant project risks and issues, proactively identifying and implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and clients.

• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to gaming product development and project management.

• Plan, execute, and optimize the Engineering budgets required to support the business growth

• Report directly to the COO, providing updates on projects and budgets statuses, delivery timelines, and resources allocation within the Engineering team.

Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role, overseeing Developers, and QA professionals.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the gaming (or similar) industry, with a deep understanding of game development processes/operating platforms and project lifecycle.

• Proven experience in implementing and driving Scrum processes and methodologies.

• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

• Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, and the ability to tailor them to fit the needs of the organization.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and pragmatic approach.

• Experience with project & delivery management tools and software.

• Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of the gaming industry landscape.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., project management, computer science, or a related discipline). Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
