Job Summary

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the digital presses used in production. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple printing projects simultaneously when needed. The operator must ensure that all printers meet quality standards and customer specifications while adhering to production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more digital presses, ensuring print quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor the digital press during production and adjust settings as needed to maintain optimal print quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting on equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Review production files to ensure correct materials, colors, and print specifications are used.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the production process, verifying color consistency, resolution, and front/back alignment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety standards.
  • Communicate with colleagues and supervisors to meet production schedules and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Manage inventories of printing supplies (inks, papers, and other consumables) and request replenishment when necessary.
  • Operate and maintain proficiency with the HP Indigo 12000 digital press.
  • Be able to operate, when required, the HP Indigo 7800 press as well as the Konica 7100 and Konica 1250 copiers.
  • Stay up to date with new digital printing technologies and best practices in print production.
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in printing or a related field is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a digital press operator or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of digital printing processes, color management, and print quality control.
  • Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills for printing equipment.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes in digital printing.
