Role Summary:This role calls for meticulous attention to detail, dedication to continuous improvement, and commitment to business success. The Engineering Technician is a critical role to support the Inhaus Engineering Maintenance Program objective:Optimize production equipment for elite performance capabilities with preventative, predictive, and prompt-response service.
Typical DayNo two days are exactly the same, but a typical day as an Engineering Technician at Inhaus may include:
- Starting the day on the production floor, checking in with the Production Manager to review priorities, equipment status, and planned maintenance activities.
- Performing routine inspections, basic servicing, and preventative maintenance on production equipment, documenting findings and flagging any concerns early.
- Supporting production by troubleshooting mechanical issues, assisting operators, and helping keep equipment running efficiently.
- Assisting with setup or adjustment of machinery and auxiliary equipment as part of continuous improvement efforts.
- Updating maintenance logs, parts usage, and documentation using computer-based tools.
- Coordinating with suppliers or internal team members to source parts, clarify technical information, or prepare for upcoming maintenance work.
- Participating in process improvement discussions, learning how equipment performance ties into product quality and throughput.
- Ending the day with clear handover notes so the next shift or team members are aligned.
This role offers a balance of hands-on mechanical work, problem-solving, documentation, and teamwork, with ongoing opportunities to learn and grow as the operation evolves.
Major Functions and Scope:Maintenance Program:
- Support upkeep and revisions of Inhaus Engineering Maintenance Program (IEMP).
- Perform inspections, reports, and routine service as required by the IEMP.
- Perform maintenance tasks with supervision, and independently.
- Monitor and report equipment condition and maintenance requirements.
- Monitor inventory of spare parts & consumables and advise when reordering is needed.
Support parts request and technical correspondence with suppliers.
- Support daily production needs as dictated by Production Manager.
- The hands-on production involvement is required to keep a lean team and maintain visibility to real equipment operation and performance.
- Commissioning and integrating production machinery and auxiliary equipment.
- Developing state-of-the-art production processes and SOPs.
- Documenting and continuously improving current processes.
- Engineering Technician Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in an industrial/production environment.
- First aid training is an advantage but not required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems
- Results-oriented problem solver with attention to detail
- Collaborative team player with clear written and verbal communication
- Adaptable to changing priorities in a production environment
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable with computers and standard technical software
- Well-organized, reliable, and able to work independently
- Curious, motivated, and eager to learn and improve
- Acts with integrity, professionalism, and humility
- Receptive to feedback and committed to delivering results
Attendance is required full time at Inhaus' production facility (in Richmond, BC.)
