Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency with various power and hand tools, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will ensure all machinery operates safely and effectively, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
  • Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
  • Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed for equipment repair or modification
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs accurately
  • Operate heavy machinery for testing purposes after repairs to ensure proper function
  • Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with other technicians and departments to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Follow safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with dealership or industrial repair background preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Caterpillar, HVAC systems, automotive repair, and schematics interpretation
  • Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and other heavy equipment
  • Proficiency in welding, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical assembly, and use of hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when necessary
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Customer service skills for interacting with clients or internal teams regarding repairs and maintenance issues
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics effectively
  • Mechanical knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and assembly processes
