Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency with various power and hand tools, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will ensure all machinery operates safely and effectively, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
- Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed for equipment repair or modification
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs accurately
- Operate heavy machinery for testing purposes after repairs to ensure proper function
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all maintenance activities
- Collaborate with other technicians and departments to troubleshoot complex issues
- Follow safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment
Skills
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with dealership or industrial repair background preferred
- Strong knowledge of Caterpillar, HVAC systems, automotive repair, and schematics interpretation
- Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and other heavy equipment
- Proficiency in welding, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical assembly, and use of hand tools and power tools
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when necessary
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Customer service skills for interacting with clients or internal teams regarding repairs and maintenance issues
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics effectively
- Mechanical knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and assembly processes
