Unifin International is a business unit within Wabtec Corporation's Components division. Originally founded in the 1920's, Unifin International is an electric equipment cooling company, focused on the power generation and transmission markets. Our primary business is within North America, but it reaches worldwide from legacy fossil fuel and nuclear plants, to growing renewable energy power grids.

Who will you be working with?

Unifin International, located in London Ontario, is looking to fill our intern position to help us document the changes we have been making to our design processes and tools. The successful candidate will work closely with the 12 members of our engineering team and will interact with other personnel in our sales and manufacturing teams as needed. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site (no hybrid time working from home, 40-hour on-site work weeks, 8-hour days). You will be working with a dynamic Unifin team who will help develop knowledge, experience, and skills to improve your future career.

How will you make a difference?

• Uphold priorities of Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Leadership.
• Develop procedures and work instructions to help the team understand how to correctly perform a task or function. These procedures will be approved by management before implementation.
• Help identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, minimize waste and increase efficiency.

What will your typical day look like?

• Update and revise engineering procedures and work instructions at direction of engineering management;
• Create new procedures and work instructions related to new engineering tool development, including CAD automation;
• Create/update procedures for R&D Test stands;
• Make sure the procedures and work instructions are reviewed and approved before implementation;
• Keep documents organized and make updates when processes change;
• Ask for feedback from the engineering team to improve the instructions;
• Follow company safety and quality standards when creating documents;
• Additional important tasks will arise, as Unifin is a busy and exciting company;
• Work with cross-functional teams to accomplish goals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee would work at a desk for approximately 80% of the workday. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.

Safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed safety shoes and hearing protection must be worn when on the shop floor.
