Laser Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Laser Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will responsible for addressing all equipment downtime, preventive and predictive maintenance for process equipment, utilities and facility, with a key focus on safety compliance and maximizing operational efficiency. The location is in Georgetown, Ontario.

Day Shift: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Main Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, document and address all Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) instances for each asset to ensure operational efficiency to target.
• Pareto analysis of all downtime with associated corrective actions for OEE improvement as related to equipment and facility performance.
• Enforce PPE and safety protocols for Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), valid licenses and permits to complete task (electrical, mechanical, working at heights, etc.).
• Identify, quote and order to maintain key critical spare parts to ensure there is inventory based on lead times and cost to replace so there is limited downtime.
• Coordinate with the Area Leader to perform maintenance as per original manufactures guidelines and carry out audits for daily/weekly/monthly/annual inspections as required and upload results to our system.
• Travel between sites to address equipment or facility repairs, functionality and audits as required.
• Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during maintenance activities and actions being taken to improve the condition.
• Coordinate with external vendors/contractors the process of quoting and awarding repairs to ensure permanent cost-effective solutions when unable to address downtime.
• Ensure all vendors/contractors are fully oriented prior to starting any work on site. Enforcing our PPE and safety protocols.
• Ensure valid vendor/contractors WSIB and Liability certificates are filed prior to the start of any work.
• Investigate and research continuous improvement and development projects for equipment and facility optimization. Lead these projects through to completion.
• Work with cross functional teams to create, update and maintain documents (plant layout drawings, PFMEA, etc).
• Maintain accurate files, records, studies and reports and share the information appropriately.
• Provide input on developing equipment and facility standards and specifications.
• Establish specifications for new and used equipment and obtain quotes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including ISO 9001, and Employee Handbook.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities including driving CIP's, submits improvement suggestions (CI, Safety).
• Manage multiple projects and deliverables while treating team members with dignity and respect.
• Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with Company specifications, including all local, provincial and federal regulations (OSHA, ESA, CSA, etc.) Immediately report unsafe conditions to Manager/Supervisor within the department.
• Support and participate in division and department improvement initiatives through Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program, and sharing of knowledge, ideas, and/or best practices with co-workers.
• Develop and deliver employee training on new equipment as required.
• Promote a strong safety culture, enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Three to five years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in fiber laser service and repair.
• Precitec laser head service and repair an asset.
• Lantek programming experience with laser cutting is an asset.
• Welding equipment (ESAB or Miller) service and repair an asset.
• Proficient in reading technical drawings, schematics to service and repair equipment.
• Laser Safety Officer training an asset.
• Possess the aptitude to be comfortable with trouble-shooting and running process and machinery (mechanical, electrical, controls, pneumatic systems).
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to set priorities and multitasks projects.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office. An effective self-starter who is positive and professional including proactive with a desire to suggest improvements to existing processes and systems.
• Flexible to work extended or on-call hours, when required, to comply with time sensitive deadlines and equipment breakdowns.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Demands & Working Conditions:

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, vibration and metal dust.
• Standing/walking, in addition to sitting throughout shift.
• Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Valid drivers license and vehicle to travel between company facilities as required.
• Willing and authorized to travel in Canada and USA.
• Exposure to moderate to loud noise and vibration levels.
• Required to wear PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs are required). Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36.00-$46.00 per hour
