The Development Officer is a key member of the Arts Umbrella Development team responsible for building and stewarding relationships with donors and stakeholders while securing philanthropic support for Arts Umbrella's programs and initiatives.

In this role you will

  • Manage a portfolio of 75–100 donors and prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Work closely with the Director, Major Gifts, in building the prospect pipeline, identifying and cultivating new supporters.
  • Prepare grant applications, funding proposals, and final reports for government agencies, foundations, and institutional funders.
  • Meet annual revenue goals in support of Arts Umbrella's programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate donor stewardship activities, including recognition, impact reporting, and invitations to performances and events.
  • Plan, write, and coordinate email campaigns for annual giving.
  • Contribute to department planning, strategy, and goal setting.
  • Support fundraising events, such as Splash, donor receptions, and cultivation activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty, program, and administrative staff to collect stories, outcomes, and data that strengthen proposals and reports.
  • Support the Senior Director, Fund Development in other duties that contribute to the successful operation of the department.

Here is what you bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in nonprofit fundraising, or the capacity to learn.
  • Proven experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and successfully securing government grants.
  • Superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to represent the organization's mission and interests to a diverse group of people.
  • Proficient in the use of Raiser's Edge, InDesign, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of attention to detail and minimum supervision.
  • Ability to establish and monitor priorities, remain flexible, and meet deadlines.
