Take your classroom knowledge into the field and see the concepts you're learning in real-world applications We're offering a unique opportunity for candidates interested in pursuing careers in engineering, construction, and project management. This is your chance to gain firsthand experience and witness how engineering is more than just drawings - it's about real-world problem-solving, hands-on work, and bringing projects to life.

While we welcome applications from all specializations, most positions are best suited for students in Civil or Mechanical Engineering focused programs or Construction Management.

Position Details:

  • Term: Summer co-op term (4-6 months depending on your program) from beginning of May to end of August/October. Anyone interested in being considered for a longer term please include the length in your cover letter.
  • Preference: If you have a preferred company or field, please include it in your cover letter when applying.

This is your opportunity to see the concepts you've learned in school come to life in the field. You'll get to work alongside professionals in areas such as:

  • Materials Testing and Quality Assurance/Quality Control: See how testing and quality control are crucial in ensuring construction materials meet standards.
  • Mix Designs (Concrete/Asphalt): Understand how engineering concepts shape the composition of materials used in infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure Design: Learn how theories from the classroom are applied to the real-world design of roads, infrastructure, foundations, and underground utilities.
  • Structural Works: Explore the design and construction processes for commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Project Management & Estimating: Get a hands-on look at how projects are planned, budgeted, and managed from start to finish.
  • General Labor: Gain a deeper understanding of the fieldwork that supports engineering designs and how the hands-on work integrates with technical planning.

This isn't just about learning theory - it's about experiencing engineering beyond the drawing board. Experienced P.Eng. and CET staff will provide direct supervision/oversight, and students are encouraged to use this opportunity to work toward EIT/CET hours.
