The Position The General Labourer provides essential operational support to the Maintenance Team by performing routine property upkeep, assisting with vacancy preparation, and supporting Maintenance Technicians with assigned work orders. Responsibilities: Complete vacancy checks and document findings for reporting.Perform seasonal groundskeeping duties including snow clearing and grass cutting.Support Maintenance Technicians with tasks related to work order completion and vacancy preparation.Ensure tools and equipment are returned to designated areas and maintained in good condition.Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance concerns on site.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance and Projects Manager or designate.Working Environment: Standard office environment; regular travel (as required)Physical Demands: Freedom of movement; Keyboarding (>2 hrs at a time); ability to take breaks as necessary; Driving and sensory demands Health and Safety: Rights: All Saskatoon Tribal Council employees have the right to information on potential hazards in the workplace, the right to participate in Occupational Health and Safety decisions, use personal protective equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and the right to refuse dangerous work.Responsibilities: All employees must co-operate with the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Committee; remain alert to changes or events that might affect client or employee safety; report safety issues, accidents or injuries immediately; follow safe work practices, including the use of PPE; and use their training and knowledge to help other employees work safely as well.Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum one (1) year experience in general labour, landscaping, or maintenance support preferred.Experience working with property management or housing organizations is an asset.Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.Understanding of First Nations communities, culture, and protocols is required.Experience working within a governance structure in a community development capacity with First Nations; familiarity with First Nations culture and history is considered an asset. Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team.Strong work ethic with a willingness to take initiative.Basic knowledge of tools and equipment use.Dependable and punctual.Attention to safety protocols and awareness of surroundings.Receptive: accept feedback, take ownership of responsibilities, and identifies areas of growth.Interpersonal Skills: communicates clearly, seek solutions, and demonstrates flexibility.Integrity: keep sensitive information confidential and adheres to STC's policies.Initiative: seeks opportunities for further development.Other: Must possess a valid driver's license (class 5), have reliable transportation, and meet STC's insurance requirements.Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
