The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) incorporating the Faculty of Pain Medicine, is an internationally recognised specialist medical education institution responsible for the training, examinations, specialist qualification, and continuing professional development of all anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists in Australia and New Zealand.

The college's purpose is to serve our communities by leading high quality patient care in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine, optimizing health and reducing the burden of pain.

About the team:

The Policy, Safety and Quality team plays an important advocacy role, managing relationships and developing submissions for government and non-government bodies in Australia and New Zealand, managing government programs, the safety and quality portfolio and Indigenous health and global health initiatives. Much of this work involves engagement and advocacy activities with internal and external stakeholders.

Our unit consists of collaborative, conscientious and pragmatic policy advisers who are complemented by energetic, insightful and resourceful communications and design professionals.

About the opportunity:

Do you thrive in stakeholder engagement and project coordination? ANZCA is seeking a dynamic and motivated Project Coordinator (Rural Training Pathways) to join our Policy and Communications Unit.

Reporting to the Manager, Specialist Training Program, you will play a key role in progressing rural training initiatives under the Specialist Training Program (STP). You will collaborate with internal teams, expert clinicians, and external stakeholders to develop and support rural training pathways, particularly in NSW and Queensland.

In this role, you will;

  • Coordinate and oversee STP and rural training initiatives to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Build and maintain relationships with universities, health services, rural training hubs, and government departments.
  • Support jurisdictional rural training development, including mapping pathways and streamlining recruitment processes.
  • Assist with project management, reporting, and stakeholder engagement across various committees and training sites.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of rural training pathways and identify new opportunities for program growth.

The role will directly report to the Manager, Specialist Training Program (STP).

In addition, you will have:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public health, policy or related field.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and building effective relationships to influence and facilitate outcomes.
  • Excellent planning, organising, time management and logistics management skills, the ability to effectively handle conflicting priorities, establish timeframes and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills enabling the production of different type of documents for different audiences that are clear, accurate and concise.
  • A reliable team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a solutions-focused attitude.
  • Strong initiative and self-leadership, the ability to work effectively without direct supervision
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to keep records during the document development process.
  • Computer skills:
  1. Intermediate to advanced - MS Word, Outlook, Excel.
  2. Conduct internet research.

Desirable

  • Understanding of medical colleges and how they operate.
