Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager will be working on our Student Residence and Academic Building project in Peterborough, Ontario.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of construction projects from start to finish.
- Collaborate with the project manager to develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or delays; propose and implement solutions to mitigate these issues.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect work quality, safety standards, and adherence to project specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
- Facilitate meetings with project teams to review project status, discuss challenges, and make necessary adjustments to plans.
- Support the project manager in managing project finances, including tracking expenses, processing invoices, and maintaining cost reports.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards throughout the construction process.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and others to promote collaboration and client satisfaction.
- Provide administrative support to the project manager as needed, including organizing files, managing correspondence, and maintaining project records.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- University or college degree in Civil Engineering or related studies
- Minimum 5 years of work-related experience with construction firm
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Procore, Builder Lynx and estimating software (Blue Beam, Plan Swift or similar)
- Strong time management and organization skills
Work Conditions
- Based on-site - Management Trailer
- Fast-paced environment with tight timelines and critical deadlines.
- PPE required while on-site.
