Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will be working on our Student Residence and Academic Building project in Peterborough, Ontario. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of construction projects from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or delays; propose and implement solutions to mitigate these issues.
  • Conduct regular site visits to inspect work quality, safety standards, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Facilitate meetings with project teams to review project status, discuss challenges, and make necessary adjustments to plans.
  • Support the project manager in managing project finances, including tracking expenses, processing invoices, and maintaining cost reports.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards throughout the construction process.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and others to promote collaboration and client satisfaction.
  • Provide administrative support to the project manager as needed, including organizing files, managing correspondence, and maintaining project records.

Required Knowledge and Experience 

  • University or college degree in Civil Engineering or related studies
  • Minimum 5 years of work-related experience with construction firm
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Procore, Builder Lynx and estimating software (Blue Beam, Plan Swift or similar)
  • Strong time management and organization skills

Work Conditions

  • Based on-site - Management Trailer
  • Fast-paced environment with tight timelines and critical deadlines.
  • PPE required while on-site.
