Maintenance Technician

Champ's Fresh Farms Inc. is Western Canada's largest mushroom distributor located in BC's beautiful Fraser Valley. It is our mission to nourish the planet sustainably by providing the North American market with responsibly grown, great tasting, good-for-you mushrooms.

We are a vertically integrated business, from our compost facilities, to our mushroom farms, to sales and distribution. Our mushrooms are sold in Costco, Walmart, Save-on-Foods, Safeway, and Superstore, among many others.

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance Team at our Compost facility

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the Maintenance Technician is to provide technical services to production teams in supporting production uptime, ensuring optimal functioning of the production equipment and facilities. This position will require Industrial Maintenance knowledge and proven experience.

The Maintenance Worker will report to the Maintenance Manager, serve as a member of the maintenance team, and as such, participate in team efforts to achieve assigned business unit goals; work closely with team members to ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, accurate and on time, according to SOPs and regulatory requirements; and provide support to other roles within the maintenance team as required. This includes, but is not limited to, processing equipment, building, lighting, mobile machinery and trucks and trailers as well as providing property maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Maintenance Functions

• Solid mechanical foundation and confidence using basic tools (e.g., ratchets) without supervision
• Perform preventive maintenance as per program requirements.
• Unscheduled Maintenance
• Replace bearings, hydraulic hoses, motors, gearboxes, conveyor rollers, water pumps, etc.
• Respond appropriately to emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment to reduce manufacturing machine downtime.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems effectively, diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Able to complete work orders and update all information required on the CMMS.
• Experience with industrial machinery installation, adjustment, and repair

• Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the writing and review of standard operating procedures and standard work documentation for maintenance processes and tasks.

• Adhere to all safety practices and protocols related to job responsibilities and tasks including wearing all appropriate PPE.
• Act in accordance with company policies related to personal and group health and safety practices and procedures.

• Engage in permanent and continuous learning by participating in on-job, internal and/or external training programs. Apply learned knowledge to work environment and role.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement programs such as coaching sessions, sharing of knowledge and skills, and contributing to team efforts to achieve assigned goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Trade certifications are an asset.
• 3+ years of work experience in maintenance functions preferably in a food manufacturing environment.

Experience:

• Industrial maintenance: 3 years (preferred)
