About the Role
The Events and Promotions Specialist leads the planning, coordination, and execution of events and promotional activities that enhance Downtown Belleville's reputation as a vibrant destination for culture, tourism, shopping, and community experiences.
This role is integral to achieving the objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan 2025, particularly within the focus areas of Events and Event Management, Beautification and Tourism Development, and Short-Term Accommodation (STA) Promotion.
The successful candidate will combine creativity, organization, and collaboration to deliver memorable downtown experiences, support local businesses, and strengthen community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Events and Event Management
- Lead the planning, coordination, delivery and promotion of all Downtown Belleville BIA events throughout the year.
- Develop new event concepts that align with the BIA's strategic goals and attract diverse audiences.
- Manage event logistics including budgets, permits, vendors, volunteers, and schedules.
- Collaborate with local artists, businesses, and community partners to enhance programming.
- Oversee setup, execution, and takedown of all events, ensuring accessibility and high-quality presentation.
- Collect post-event data and produce impact and evaluation reports for each event.
- Coordinate with the Membership and Marketing Supervisor to ensure all event promotions, signage, and social media align with the brand.
- Maintain the event tracking sheet to ensure deadlines, budgets, and deliverables remain on schedule.
2. Marketing and Promotion
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote events and assist with the creation of the Marketing Plan.
- Collaborate with the Membership and Marketing Supervisor to ensure unified branding and messaging across platforms.
- Track digital engagement metrics and adjust strategies based on data insights.
3. Short-Term Accommodation (STA) Promotion and Development
- Support the registration and engagement of STA operators within Downtown Belleville.
- Develop digital and print materials to promote STA properties and experiences.
- Collaborate with tourism partners such as the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board to feature STA offerings in joint campaigns.
- Work with STA owners to highlight nearby restaurants, shops, and events.
- Track visitor engagement and identify trends to inform tourism growth strategies.
4. Beautification and Tourism Development
- Collaborate with city departments and committees on downtown beautification initiatives, including seasonal décor, patios and streetscape enhancements.
- Develop and promote tourism-focused programming and cultural experiences that encourage local and regional visitation.
- Coordinate with The City of Belleville to maintain a welcoming and visually appealing downtown environment.

Working Conditions
- Office-based with frequent site visits throughout the downtown core.
- Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm.
- Evening and weekend hours required during event periods.
- Outdoor work required during setup and event execution.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $45,000.00 per year
