Together with the Healthy Communities team, the Health Promoter will work to advance initiatives related to chronic disease prevention, well-being, substance use, and injury prevention. Immediate topics of focus may include but are not limited to cannabis use, mental health, and health equity.

**Responsibilities Include**:

- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive health promotion programs using a variety of strategies which include a) building healthy public policy, b) creating supportive environments, c) strengthening community action, d) developing personal skills, e) reorienting health services.
- Assesses, analyzes, and applies surveillance information related to topics relevant to community health to determine community need, including identification of health inequities and priority populations. Uses a variety of assessment methods and reviews evidence to plan, act, and evaluate public health interventions.
- Increases knowledge, raises awareness, and influences public opinion on health issues of public health importance.
- Identifies appropriate course of action and makes recommendations based on in-depth analysis and understanding of underlying issues. Supports delivery of the municipal liaison program including assessment, documentation, and support for development of healthy public policies and community safety and well-being plans.
- Initiates, develops, and fosters relationships with key community partners, including but not limited to, municipal administration, boards of education, law enforcement, business, non-profit organizations, resident coalitions, and others, to collaboratively engage in health promotion initiatives.
- Utilises various strategies to build and strengthen community participation and improve capacity for action around shared health priorities.
- Works both independently and with internal and external teams/committees to plan timelines and meet deliverables of multiple projects and prioritize work accordingly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Education or equivalent.
- Master’s degree considered an asset.

**Experience**
- Two years of related experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with public health or community organizations in a similar role is an asset.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Knowledge of evidence-informed decision-making, health promotion strategies, and health equity.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office) and a demonstrated ability to learn new software programs.
- Immunizations must be up-to-date and maintained in compliance with all applicable SEHU policies.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.

**Working Conditions**:
Interacting with clients in a variety of community, and institutional locations and flexible working hours required, with weekend or evening hours as needed; additional hours/shifts may be based on operational requirements. Normal working hours are 8:30AM - 4:30PM.

Pay: $72,959.00-$84,610.00 per year
