Individual connections with OREM team members and services, as well as interactions with on-line services, contribute to students' growth in knowledge, independence and confidence. Registrarial services strive to directly support students' success in their university studies, campus life and subsequent life pursuits. The range of services provided by the units within the OREM appear at every point in the student life cycle, beginning with recruitment and admissions, all the way through to convocation. Members of the OREM team strive to be consistent in their interpretation, communication and application of regulations, policies and procedures while being both professional and respectful of the diversity and complexity of needs across the university campus. The OREM interacts with staff, students, faculty, university and external community members in order to assist in the delivery of core services that cross operational and departmental boundaries (e.g., registration, class and exam scheduling). It is important that students and our university colleagues are well-informed and well-supported by the OREM and the services offered.The salary range for this position is:Recruitment range: $62,989 - $69,444 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.Performance range: $81,896 salary range ceilingis available through annual performance increases.Job SummaryUndergraduate Admissions is a unit consisting of approximately 25 staff in the Office of Registrar within the Division of Student Affairs. Undergraduate Admissions processes, evaluates and conveys admission decisions to approximately 23,000 applicants annually in an effort to achieve university enrollment targets and goals of the Strategic Enrollment Plan in support of the University's Strategic Framework.Reporting to the Admission Coordinator, the Assistant Admission Officer is an important member of the Undergraduate Admissions team throughout the annual admission cycle and is often a first point of contact for applicants to the University of Victoria.The Assistant Admission Officer is self-directed while evaluating a high-volume portfolio of domestic applications from new, current and returning students that must be assessed quickly and accurately to support institutional enrollment goals. Problem-solving, critical thinking, a strong service orientation, good judgment, tact, diplomacy and professionalism are all essential for success in this position.Job RequirementsRequires a Bachelor's degree with at least two years related experience working in a post-secondary educational environment with an emphasis on admission administration and academic/transfer credit assessment of applicants; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
