Reports To (Title): Manager, Bankruptcy Services

Job Summary

The Level II, Financial Wellness Partner (FWP) – Bankruptcy is responsible for administering bankruptcy files and resolving related matters in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. This role involves frequent interaction with clients and internal team members to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant estate administration. The FWP leverages dashboards, insolvency software, and best practices to monitor client performance and support successful discharges.

Key Accountabilities

Accountability 1: Estate Administration

  • Adhere to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and OSB directives for estate compliance and reporting.
  • Document estate administration activities in line with B+S best practices.
  • Use dashboards to track estate progress, client performance, and discharge readiness.
  • Monitor client payments and follow up on NSFs, arrears, and missed payments.
  • Guide clients on income reporting and surplus income calculations.
  • Communicate changes and next steps in the estate process to clients.
  • Request and follow up on outstanding or incomplete client information.
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to the Level III FWP, Team Lead, or Manager.
  • Ensure all information is verified and compliant with BIA and the Privacy Act.
  • Conduct estate reviews at key checkpoints to ensure client compliance.
  • Communicate with clients, creditors, trustees, and the OSB.

Accountability 2: File Administration

  • Process client information using insolvency software.
  • Prepare and maintain estate files according to B+S documentation standards.

This job may also be required to complete other duties as assigned.

External Interactions

  • Creditors (e.g., Canada Revenue Agency): Respond to creditor inquiries regarding file status, bankrupt conduct issues, or oppositions to discharge.
  • Governing Bodies (Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy – OSB): Respond to OSB inquiries regarding file status, bankrupt conduct, examinations, mediation requests, and oppositions to bankruptcy discharge.

Education And Experience

Education

Minimum required education:

  • Secondary school (high school or equivalent)

Preferred education:

  • Post-secondary diploma in a related field
  • Enrollment in or completion of the Insolvency Administrators Qualification Course

Experience

Minimum number of years required:

  • 1 year

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in insolvency, finance, credit counseling, or legal fields
  • Understanding of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and related legislation
  • Experience with insolvency or industry-specific software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Aptitude for learning new software programs

Minimums may be calculated using a combination of education and experience.
