You are required to implement tax engagements while meeting the Firm's high-quality standards and provide technical expertise as an internal resource to staff who need support on their client files or specific questions from their clients.

  • A university degree in accounting and working towards your CPA.

  • You have worked through complete tax files in a public accounting firm setting and have demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Income Tax and have a thorough understanding of GAAP/ASPE.

  • This technical knowledge typically comes with 2-3 years of working experience in a public accounting setting.

  • Proficient use of technology including Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Word and Excel with the ability to create formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot table, data analytics etc., Taxprep, Caseware, QBO and other bookkeeping software

You will be responsible for:

  • Completing all Compilation Engagement documents to be issued to the client, including working papers, financial statements, planning documents, notes and schedules.

  • Completing compliance reviews of prepared corporate and personal tax returns.

  • Compliance reviews of prepared income tax slips and filings, including T4's and T5's.

  • Independently preparing tax plans and compliance-related reports

  • Preparing client correspondence, including reports, discussion of technical issues and recommendations

  • Supporting other team members by coaching and supporting their development with candid and respectful feedback

You are expected to:

  • Seek out ways to make improvements in day-to-day work

  • Relates to people in an open, friendly, accepting and respectful manner

  • Brings an inquisitive mindset and pose credible solutions to issues

  • Able to accept ownership and promptly identify significant issues for discussion with the Manager and/or Partner

  • Ensures that all queries and outstanding points have been cleared satisfactorily

  • Critically reviews your work before submitting it to your Manager
