About the Role
Roots & Wings Montessori is seeking a warm, engaging individual to join our preschool as Storyteller & Literacy Guide. This is a position perfect for someone who loves children's literature and enjoys helping young learners build comprehension and early language skills.
You will read classic English children's books—such as Winnie the Pooh, Peter Rabbit, and other timeless stories—while guiding children in listening, understanding, and engaging with the material.
Responsibilities
- Read aloud to a small group of preschool-aged children in a clear, expressive manner
- Encourage comprehension through simple discussion, prediction, and vocabulary building
- Foster a calm, warm, inviting atmosphere during storytime
- Support Montessori principles of respect, gentleness, and independence
- Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and staff
Qualifications
- Strong English fluency with clear articulation and confident reading skills
- Enjoyment of storytelling and classic children's literature
- Warm, patient, and gentle communication style
- Experience working with children (formal or informal) is an asset
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable in a preschool environment
- Valid ECE or ECE Assistant License is an asset
