POSITION: LINE COOK / PREP COOK – PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN
We are seeking a highly disciplined, technically skilled, and career-driven cook to join our culinary team. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for individuals with ambition, precision, and the desire to contribute to a kitchen that operates with high standards and a strong culinary vision. Job Overview
The Line Cook/Prep Cook plays a critical role in the execution of our kitchen operations. You will be responsible for delivering consistent quality, maintaining strict mise en place discipline, and supporting the brigade during high-volume service. This position is suited for cooks who take their craft seriously, understand the demands of a professional kitchen, and are motivated by continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Execute prep and cooking tasks with accuracy, following established recipes, standards, and techniques.
- Maintain consistency in flavor, texture, timing, and presentation across all dishes.
- Uphold the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and workstation organization at all times.
- Manage ingredients, storage, rotation, and inventory with attention to detail.
- Assist with plating, garnishing, and final dish assembly during service.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment with professionalism and care.
- Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining focus, discipline, and a calm attitude.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate with the team to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Follow all internal protocols, operational procedures, and quality expectations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role in a professional kitchen.
- Strong understanding of food safety principles and proper food handling techniques.
- Solid knife skills and familiarity with professional kitchen equipment.
- Ability to perform with consistency and speed in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively within a kitchen brigade.
- Knowledge of classical and modern cooking methods, mise en place discipline, and plating standards.
- A genuine passion for culinary craft and continuous growth.
Assets
Experience or demonstrated interest in:
Fermentation and dough science
Italian regional cuisine
Charcuterie and cured meats
French cuisine fundamentals and sauce work
Pastry and dessert production
Bread baking and artisanal baking methods
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$24.13 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
