Job Overview

Orbis Express is looking for an Owner Operator team service to bring in their vehicle and based out of Delta, BC or Mississauga, Ontario.

Servicing British Columbia to Ontario and provinces in between. Nonstop team driving.

Valid driver's license and clean driver abstract

Minimum MUST have minimum of 2 years or verified 150,000 kms experience

Duties

  • The successful team will operate their own vehicle to haul freight from BC to Ontario and back.
  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, customs and immigration and weights and dimensions
  • Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and load, ensuring safety and road worthiness
  • Adhere to all federal, provincial, and local transportation laws and safety regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Ability to meet and maintain service requirements.
  • Perform additional pick-ups and deliveries as required.
  • Accurate completion and daily, weekly, monthly, and annual submission of required documentation.
  • Professional attitude in all interactions representing the Company
  • Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to maintain vehicle operability.
  • Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules.
  • Additional duties as required.

Experience

  • Valid Class 1 or AZ driver's license
  • Clean Driver's Abstract
  • Must have minimum of 2 years or verified 150,000 kms experience
  • Basic geographical knowledge of Linehaul driving from BC to Ontario
  • Possession of liability insurance and all other licenses as required by law and Orbis Express specifications.
  • Valid WCB registration and coverage for Owner Operators
  • Must supply own vehicle and maintain appearance and operation at highest industry standards.
  • Must possess a valid Dangerous Goods Handling Certificate.
  • Ability to pick-up and deliver all deliveries associated to the route area or as required.
  • Successful candidates will be subject to reference and criminal background checks prior to employment.
  • Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols.
  • Basic automotive repair skills are advantageous for vehicle maintenance needs.
  • Prior experience as an owner operator or independent contractor in transportation is highly desirable.
  • Must meet and maintain standards set by Orbis Express

Compensation

  • Wage is by mile

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $200,000.00-$235,000.00 per year
