Senior Electrical Engineer - Experience in Buildings

Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client's team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical guidance within the electrical practice, overseeing the development and management of technical standards and processes, and directing the electrical design portion of various projects. This includes coordinating with design team members, liaising directly with clients and suppliers, and ensuring project success through effective management of engineering budgets and schedules.

Location: Kitchener, Hamilton, or Toronto (flexible)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical design on projects of various sizes.
  • Coordinate with clients on project scope and development.
  • Develop concepts, schematic, and developed designs for electrical project scope.
  • Complete electrical service and distribution systems calculations and equipment selection.
  • Oversee lighting design, including fixture selection and lighting calculations.
  • Ensure electrical systems design compliance with building codes and standards.
  • Coordinate preparation of drawing documentation and specifications.
  • Liaise with authorities and service providers.
  • Provide technical analysis, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Perform site surveys, field reviews, and address coordination questions during construction.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and other design disciplines.
  • Provide technical direction for the electrical practice.
  • Develop and maintain electrical technical standards and processes.
  • Provide quality assurance for electrical scope on various projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in building electrical systems for industrial, institutional, commercial, and/or healthcare projects.
  • Licensed member of PEO (P.Eng).
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (i.e., OBC, OESC, CSA).
