Senior Test Automation Engineer – API & Digital Communications

Location Address: Hybrid - Toronto – 3 days/week (flexible)

Subject to change: 3–4 days onsite may be required based on business needs

Contract Duration: 6 months with Possibility of extension & conversion to FTE

Hiring Manager:
Senior QA Manager

Reason:
Staff augmentation for duration of project implementation

Business group: CBE Commerce and Communication – communications domain – send out communications to customers via email web push messages – transactional – use cases to communicate with the customers (e.g. reminder for CC payment, balance notification)

Project:
We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to work with the Notification Services team in Digital, who can design and write test automation scripts for new or existing software.

New project:
Technology transformation project - updating preferences and consents for communications to align to Canadian regulations – e.g. if they opt out of communications, need to ensure the technology is aligned – testing out components in the communications set up.

Typical Day in Role:


•
Utilize standard test automation frameworks to design, build and maintain programs/scripts that run automated tests on code produced by the team


• Contribute to manual testing process in addition to automated testing


• Analyze and identify test scenarios to be automated


• Deliver requested automation scripts in an Agile model with efficiency and accuracy ensuring automation best practices.


• Continuously improve automated testing methodologies to enable QA SMEs to maximize test coverage of the full depth of enterprise product.


• Tech stack: Selenium, Postman


• 80% automation 20% manual

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

1) 6+ years of experience in Test Automation using Selenium-Java, REST Assured library

2) Hands on experience Automating mobile, web-based applications, and API web services – API is most important

3) Experience with Groovy and/or Java scripting.

4) Experience writing SQL/NoSQL queries.

5) Expertise in using API tools like SOAP UI, Postman, or something similar.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) Experience in creating/maintaining automation BDD/TDD framework (Using Cucumber, Maven, TestNG)

2) Experience with JIRA, Confluence, XRay.

3) Previous experiences in major Canadian bank considered as an asset, specifically web banking system is considered an asset

Best VS. Average Candidate:

More focus on API than mobile and web

Very good knowledge on QA processes and hands-on experience of preparing testing artifacts such as test plan, strategy, Test cases, status reports.

Thorough knowledge of automation tools; experience with automation in different types of scenarios

Someone who is a self starter and requires minimal hand holding

2nd – Teams Video Technical Panel Interview – 30-45 minutes – coding test

3rd – In Person – 30 minutes
