Job Summary
As a key part of this team, the Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for helping the company achieve its goals through its employees. The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a generalist role and will be responsible for supporting stores with respect to employee relationship management, engagement, performance management and training in Vancouver and possibly in other provinces, as required.

The HRBP will succeed by advising and guiding store managers, providing the tools and knowledge to support leaders in their development as managers of their employees.

Key Accountabilities
Specifically, the HRBP will play a key role in:

  • Responsible for providing human resources advice and guidance to managers and employees, acting as the first point of contact for inquiries;
  • Respond to and respond to employee complaints or concerns;
  • Conduct or facilitate investigations related to complaints of harassment, discrimination, bullying or violence;
  • Day-to-day management, engagement and planning of employee relations;
  • Performance development and management coaching;
  • Assist in the management of health and safety complaints and sometimes speak to health and safety inspectors about visits, concerns or orders;
  • Ensure that field teams operate in accordance with the company's human resources guidelines; and
  • Administer company policies and procedures, including the development and communication of policies to ensure that they comply with all aspects of provincial laws and are consistent across the company

Job Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree in human resources, business administration and/or a related program is an asset.
  • At least five to seven years of HR experience with generalist experience gained in a fast-paced environment, with experience in preferred multi-site retail.
  • Experience in employee relations is mandatory, ideally combined with experience in labour relations.
  • General knowledge of employment standards, human rights and labour relations is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct or facilitate thorough investigations of harassment, discrimination and violence complaints, review evidence gathered and reach reasonable conclusions, communicate results verbally and write a detailed summary.
  • Must be comfortable working in a very fast-paced and action-oriented environment.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial and lean organization, where decisions are made quickly and structures are always being put in place.
  • Demonstrated excellence in conflict management and problem-solving skills, balancing business and personal needs.
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications and various databases.
  • High integrity and demonstrated ability to professionally handle confidential information and sensitive matters of relationship with associates.
  • A good general knowledge of business ideally developed through practical experience in another function within a company.
  • The ideal candidate will have a high level of energy, will be motivated, results-oriented as well as creative, innovative and flexible.
  • The ideal candidate will be comfortable with occasional limited travel across Canada.
  • Strong writing skills are mandatory.

Starting salary of $80,000
