Overview

We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service, excellent customer service skills, and experience in food preparation and handling. This role involves preparing deli items, assisting customers, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment in a fast-paced retail or food service setting. Prior experience with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, along with culinary or restaurant experience, is highly desirable. The Deli Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient service and high standards of food safety and sanitation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and package a variety of deli products, including meats, cheeses, and prepared foods, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for transactions, sales, and upselling opportunities.
  • Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Restock shelves, organize display cases, and ensure product freshness.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, including cash handling and cashiering duties.
  • Support food preparation tasks such as slicing, portioning, and packaging deli items.
  • Uphold sanitation standards by cleaning workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly.
  • Assist with bussing tables or cleaning areas as needed in the retail or café environment.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure quick service during busy periods while maintaining quality standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food service, grocery store, café, or quick-service restaurant preferred.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and proper food handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell products effectively.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math calculations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices required.
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Prior experience in cashiering or serving is advantageous but not mandatory. This position offers an engaging environment where team members can develop their culinary skills while providing excellent service to our valued customers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
