Position Summary:

This role involves collaborating with senior management to plan, implement, coordinate, and report on grief and bereavement services for individuals and families. The position provides intake, psychosocial assessments, case management, supportive counselling, advocacy, and connections to internal and external resources. Using a holistic and anti-oppressive framework, the ideal candidate supports clients' diverse needs while understanding psychosocial dynamics of illness, loss, death, mental health, and bereavement, as well as peer/mutual support models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management / Client Care: Intake, assessments, referral coordination, interdisciplinary care, and care plan implementation.
  • Volunteer Management: Assist in volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, education, engagement, and evaluation.
  • Group Management: Plan, manage, and evaluate peer/mutual support bereavement groups; provide support to group members and facilitators.
  • Supportive Counselling: Offer individual and family counselling, maintaining therapeutic boundaries and ethical standards.
  • Data Entry & Reporting: Maintain client records, collect data, and support statistical reporting.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain partnerships, provide educational outreach, promote programs, and participate in conferences.
  • Program Planning / Other Duties: Evaluate and enhance grief programs, participate in quality improvement, professional development, and organizational events.

Education & Experience:

  • University degree or equivalent; preference for candidates with grief and bereavement experience.
  • Background in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology is an asset.
  • 2–4 years in grief and bereavement services, case management, assessments, or interdisciplinary health teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Knowledge of current trends in grief, bereavement, and hospice/palliative care.
  • Reflective practice, boundary management, stress resilience.
  • Public speaking experience an asset; personal bereavement experience valued.
  • Cultural awareness and inclusivity in service provision.
  • Volunteer management experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and organizational skills.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00-$21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week
