Whistler, British Columbia, Canada Amrize Full time

Join Amrize as a Equipment Operator & Labourer and help construct whats next. If you're ready to put your skills to work on projects that matter — and build a career with a company that's building North America — we want to hear from you

About The Role
We are seeking a versatile and proactive Equipment Operator to join our team. This is a multi-faceted role that combines skilled equipment operation with essential plant maintenance and site support duties.

While your primary focus will be operating heavy machinery to meet production goals, this position requires flexibility. You will be relied upon to support the ground crew when needed; whether that means assisting with morning plant start-ups, stepping in during staffing shortages, helping the maintenance team clear breakdowns, or assisting on blast days.

The ideal candidate enjoys variety in their workday and takes ownership of the entire production process, not just the machine they are operating. This position goes beyond simply operating machinery; it is a role for a mechanically inclined team player who is ready to go beyond the cab to ensure the site's overall success.

What You'll Accomplish

  • Operate heavy machinery (e.g., Loaders, Excavators, Dozers, Haul Trucks) safely and efficiently to move material, feed plants, or load trucks.
  • Maximize production efficiency while maintaining a constant focus on safety and equipment care.
  • Adapt to various equipment types according to daily production requirements.
  • Perform basic maintenance on assigned equipment as needed, such as tightening tracks, changing bucket teeth, greasing, or replacing hydraulic hoses.
  • Conduct thorough pre-shift and post-shift inspections to ensure operational readiness.
  • Assist in getting the production plants ready for the day by performing pre-start checklists.
  • Assist the maintenance team during breakdowns or reactive maintenance events, such as clearing jams, changing screens, or splicing belts.
  • Under the direction of the Blaster on blast days, perform essential physical tasks such as stemming holes and blast site preparation.
  • Assist with cleanup to maintain safety standards and a high degree of housekeeping.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

What We're Looking For
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent

Required Work Experience:
Experience operating heavy equipment in a mining, quarry, or construction environment.

Required Training/Certifications:
Valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience operating heavy equipment in a mining, quarry, or construction environment.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics and the ability to use hand and power tools to assist with repairs.
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to shift focus from operating to labor/maintenance when the situation demands it.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, or materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, and shovel for extended periods during maintenance or blasting prep.
  • Fill in on ground labor duties as required.
  • Ability to maintain clear communication via two-way radio.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

What We Offer

  • Estimated Wage Range $ $36.00/Hourly
  • Flexible Health & Dental benefits coverage for you and your dependents
  • A generous Pension Plan designed to support you through various stages of your career and life
  • Access to voluntary programs like RRSP and TFSA for future financial planning
  • Healthy Living support through an Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), offering confidential assistance for work, health, or life challenges
  • Easy access to mental health and well-being support
  • Service recognition awards to celebrate your contributions
  • Perks & discounts on a variety of products and services
  • Access to online learning platforms, financial educational assistance, and a culture that fosters career growth and opportunities
  • Financial support for new parents beyond statutory benefits
  • An inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone can be themselves
  • A collaborative work culture in a supportive and team-oriented work environment
  • Company-provided personal protective equipment ensuring your safety and comfort on the job where applicable

As part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, will be required.
Amrize is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
