Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced design & drafting lead who will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely residential working drawings, including the development of new home models, elevations, and plan sets. This role also involves preparing design sketches for clients as required. The position works closely with internal teams and management to adjust designs based on approved plot plans and grade requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong proficiency in design and engineering software, along with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and maintenance of residential working drawings and master plans for new and existing home models.
- Produce detailed construction drawings using computer-assisted design software based on concepts, sketches, specifications, and sales data.
- Maintain and update existing models to reflect specification changes and corrections to errors or omissions.
- Modify master plans into job-specific production drawings in accordance with purchase agreements and required timelines.
- Ensure all designs meet or exceed applicable Alberta Building Code and meet municipal requirements.
- Work closely with Sales, Estimating, Construction, and Design teams to communicate drawing updates, resolve issues, and support project delivery.
- Maintain drafting standards, drawing libraries, and version control across projects.
- Lead and engage in client meetings related to highly customized project requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Design, or a related field
- A minimum of 2 years of residential drafting experience, experience in multi family projects is an asset
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings
- Strong understanding of Alberta Building Code and local municipal requirements
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Knowledge of new home construction
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience leading or mentoring junior drafters is an asset
