Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced
Steel Estimator / Coordinator
to join our growing fabrication team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment that delivers high-quality custom and structural steel projects. The successful candidate will support all phases of project delivery - from estimating and planning to coordination and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and bid documents for custom metal fabrication and structural steel projects.
  • Prepare accurate material and labor take-offs and develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and shop supervisors to clarify project scope and ensure successful execution.
  • Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and technical information.
  • Track awarded projects, assist with scheduling, and coordinate fabrication timelines.
  • Maintain and update estimating records, cost databases, and support process improvements.
  • Perform site visits as needed to verify measurements or prepare field sketches for quotations.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating or coordinating within the steel fabrication or construction industry.
  • Solid understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and shop drawings.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication or structural drawings (AutoCAD experience is an asset).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with take-off and estimating software is an asset.
