Position Overview
As an Assistant Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of a project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while working directly with all the different teams and stakeholders involved.
The Assistant Superintendent may either exercise direct supervision over laborers and craft workers or be responsible for directing an assigned segment of a project with one or more crafts.
This position will participate in layout/field engineering and will implement and oversee safety processes and practices in their assigned work area. The Assistant Construction Superintendent works under the supervision of a Construction Superintendent.

SAFETY COMPLIANCE:
Thoroughly understand and implement the Company's Safety Manual and policies to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel on site.

PROJECT LEADERSHIP ADHERENCE:
Follow the established requirements of Project Leadership to facilitate effective project execution and team collaboration.
DOCUMENT INTERPRETATION:
Accurately interpret construction documents, plans, and specifications to guide project activities and ensure compliance with design intent.
WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT:
Effectively manage and motivate both the on-site workforce and subcontractors to achieve high levels of productivity and morale.
QUALITY ASSURANCE:
Discern between high-quality and unacceptable work standards, ensuring that all construction activities meet the required specifications and industry standards.
DAILY REPORTING:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive Daily Report process to document project progress, challenges, and daily activities.
WORK SEQUENCING:
Strategically sequence work activities in coordination with subcontractors and vendors to optimize project efficiency and workflow.
SCHEDULE DEVELOPMENT:
Assist in the creation and adherence to project schedules for respective scopes of work, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
PROJECT LAYOUT PARTICIPATION:
Actively participate in the layout and engineering phases of the project to support accurate and efficient construction processes.
COLLABORATION WITH PROJECT ENGINEER:
Collaborate with the Project Engineer on critical tasks, including the assembly, organization, and review of Requests for Information (RFIs), shop drawings, submittals, and record drawings.
TEAM COLLABORATION:
Follow directives, work collaboratively with all team members, and complete assigned tasks efficiently to support project objectives.
CONTINUOUS LEARNING:
Identify and familiarize oneself with essential construction practices and principles to enhance professional growth and project performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, 6+ years preferred
- OSHA 30 Hour
- Valid Driver's License
- Successful completion of medical physical examination
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
Skills
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Proficiency in development and execution of project schedules, aligning all activities to stated project objectives.
SUBCONTRACTOR COORDINATION:
Coordinating efforts and performance of project personnel including subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to achieve project objectives on time and within budget.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT:
Ability to set and communicate clear expectations to all project personnel and provide feedback and coaching to ensure that work is performed successfully against expectations.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
ADMINISTRATIVE PROFICIENCY:
Familiarity with reviewing submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and RFIs, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timely resolution of issues.
SAFETY MANAGEMENT:
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and compliance standards and best practices and processes to meet safety requirements and avoid incidents and accidents.
