About the project

We're developing Soundwave, a next-generation media platform powering a locally run, touchscreen multimedia kiosk. Designed for 4K displays and immersive interactivity, Soundwave delivers product by two dedicated, cross-functional squads. Each has a specific experience end-to-end:

  • The Patron Experience:
  • A rich, dynamic interface for in-venue users to browse and play music
  • The Operator Experience:
  • A utility-focused toolset for system setup, diagnostics, and field maintenance

Your mission in the Backend team:

Your Day-To-Day:

  • Design and implement reliable, scalable backend services in Java (Spring or Spring Boot) that power both the Patron and Operator Experiences.
  • Develop APIs, microservices, and cloud-side logic to support media workflows, user configuration, device monitoring, and operational control.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, product managers, and system architects to deliver cohesive, end-to-end features.
  • Write automated tests and actively contribute to CI/CD pipelines to ensure service quality, performance, and security.
  • Participate in system design and code reviews, championing maintainability and best practices.
  • Ensure backend services are observable, traceable, and performant through proper instrumentation and testing.

Your profile:

  • 3+ years of backend development experience with strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and scale backend services and APIs in cloud-based environments.
  • Experience with service-oriented or microservices architectures.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts (e.g., containers, service discovery, CI/CD).
  • Commitment to quality and testing, including writing unit and integration tests as part of feature delivery.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional, agile product teams.
