Role Overview
- Conduct geological evaluations using core data, well logs, and drilling/production information.
- Provide insights and recommendations to define project strategies.
- Prepare and present technical recommendations to leadership through formal review processes.
- Evaluate open Crown, freehold, and industry-held land for potential acquisition or divestiture.
- Stay informed of academic advancements and industry activity to incorporate new learnings into development projects.
- Contribute to Long Range Planning (LRP) and annual budgeting processes.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to optimize business practices and enhance project economics.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including Geoscience team, drilling, well delivery, earthworks, environmental, land, and regulatory.
- Support multiple assets in Saskatchewan while working with Geophysicists and development engineers.
- Meet regular deadlines to support ongoing development inventory and guide future well planning.
Skills & Qualifications
- Land Evaluation: Expertise in assessing land for acquisition or divestiture.
- Well Planning: Strong experience in well design and placement.
- Directional Planning: Proficient in optimizing directional drilling strategies.
- Geoscience Software: Familiarity with Geographix, Accumap, GeoScout, Petrel.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects effectively.
- Geology Knowledge: Sound understanding of geology and sequence stratigraphy, particularly clastic depositional systems.
Education & Experience
- Degree: B.Sc. Degree or higher in Geology.
- Experience: 8+ years of related industry experience.
- Certification: Member of APEGA or other Provincial Professional Geoscience Organization required.
