Urban Minds is a Canadian non-profit organization with a mission to create meaningful ways for youth to shape equitable and sustainable communities. At Urban Minds, we want to transform youth engagement from being a tiresome chore into an inspiring journey. We want to change the perception of youth as lesser, passive participants to that of youth as capable, active co-creators.

We help municipalities, companies, and organizations to better connect with youth and design youth-friendly spaces, programs, and services. We help our clients develop effective recruitment strategies and identify incentives to get youth involved. Founded in 2016, our team has directly worked with thousands of students in Ontario. Through our 1UP Youth Program, we empower Ontario youth ages 12-18 in shaping the spaces around them to be more equitable and sustainable.

Why We're Recruiting:

We are looking for an awesome human being who will lead the planning and delivery of our consulting projects, working with our clients and partners in municipalities, civic organizations and architecture/planning firms.

Our organization is embarking on an exciting period of growth. We are undergoing a transition process from an entirely volunteer-run organization to a larger team of both paid staff and volunteers. This transition will enable us to deliver high-quality work while providing professional development opportunities to every team member.

What You Will Do:

As a Project Manager, you will report to the Co-Executive Directors and lead the Project Team and Proposal Team in the following:

● Oversee the Project Team in managing and delivering youth engagement projects and events, on-site when required

● Oversee the Proposal Team in tracking project opportunities, developing and submitting project proposals, and meet with proposal partners as necessary

● Build strong relationships with current and potential clients and partners to grow our consulting practice

● Develop and manage project budgets

● Coach and mentor direct reports

What We're Looking For:

You may be a good fit for this position if:

● You are passionate about meaningful community engagement, especially with youth

● You have community engagement and public consultation experience, having IAP2 certification is an asset

● You are knowledgeable about the planning and development landscape in Ontario and have a strong understanding of relevant stakeholders and processes

● You have experience securing, managing, and delivering projects in a professional or organizational setting

● You are an effective leader with experience coaching junior team members

● You enjoy and are comfortable working with children and youth

● You are an approachable and organized team player that we can count on

● Above all else, you have a strong sense of curiosity and commitment to show up and learn as you go

● $200/year to support your professional development, e.g. conference or workshop tickets, online training modules, professional association memberships, etc.

Time and Location:

● This is a
part-time, 12-month contract position,
up to 15 hours per week, with potential for renewal thereafter

● Availability is required for daytime client and partner meetings with a minimum of 24 hours' notice

● There will be internal volunteer meetings on evenings or weekends but you have the flexibility to schedule them based on your availability

● You will mostly be working remotely from home, but will also need to travel to project locations in Ontario (travel costs will be reimbursed)

Compensation:

● $26.00/hour

Other Requirements:

● Valid police check/vulnerable sector screening (fees covered by Urban Minds when on-boarded)
