About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the full accounting cycle and provide day-to-day administrative assistance to ensure smooth office operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in bookkeeping, HST filing, payroll processing, and personal/business tax preparation.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Duties
- Assist with all stages of the accounting cycle, from data entry to period-end adjustments
- Prepare and file HST/GST returns
- Assist with payroll processing, including timesheet review and source deduction calculations
- Support preparation of personal and corporate income tax returns
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare financial reports as needed
Administrative Duties
- Answer phone calls and greet clients in a professional manner
- Maintain filing systems (physical and digital)
- Schedule appointments and manage client files
- Prepare documents, letters, and forms
- Support office operations as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field (completed or in progress)
- Experience with bookkeeping or accounting software (QuickBooks is an asset)
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication and client-service skills
