Director, Technology Product Management

They provide strategic leadership and direction to delivery teams, ensuring seamless execution across discovery, design, development, and testing phases while proactively addressing opportunities, risks, security, and dependencies. As a trusted partner to key stakeholders, this role provides thought leadership, facilitates collaboration between business leaders, technology teams, cybersecurity, and operational support groups. As leaders, they empower teams through mentorship, coaching, and skill development, driving a culture of innovation, efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration.

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the VP Product Management, you will be empowered to:

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Demonstrates extensive experience in owning and managing the entire product lifecycle, including setting the vision, maintaining the product roadmap and backlog, and aligning product development with strategic business goals using agile methodologies across all phases from discovery to support.
  • Use insights from market and/or user research, feedback and usage data to understand needs and opportunities. Develop product propositions and determine positioning and variants for different segments. Prioritize requirements and develop product roadmaps.
  • Coordinate testing, product launches and support communications and training. Adapt products based on changing customer/user needs and create retirement and transition plans. 
  • Align the product management objectives with business objectives and authorize the selection and planning of all product management activities.  
  • Lead delivery of products or services for large and complex initiatives. 
  • Adapt delivery approaches based on the context and complexity of the initiative. Provide leadership and guidance to multiple delivery teams. Collaborate with stakeholders to align delivery objectives with business goals. Proactively manage risks, dependencies and changes that may impact delivery. 
  • Ensure optimal allocation of resources and skills across teams. Monitor key delivery metrics, ensuring transparency and visibility. 
  • Drive the continuous improvement of delivery processes and practices across the organization. 
  • Monitor and report on performance of product and service delivery, ensuring alignment with objectives. Identify and mitigate systemic risks and issues. 
  • Act as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans.  Provide informed feedback to assess and promote understanding.  
  • Facilitate business decision-making processes. Capture and disseminate technical and business information. 
  • Oversee the monitoring of stakeholder relationships, capturing lessons learned and providing feedback. Lead initiatives to enhance communication and relationships, promoting collaboration and understanding between all parties. 

SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of benefits management plans for projects and programs.  
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify and quantify benefits and to establish metrics and mechanisms for tracking benefits realization.  
  • Monitor and report on the progress of development projects. Ensure projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods and tools and addresses security and privacy requirements.  
  • Lead activities to make security and privacy integral to systems development.  
  • Support deployment of the working environment for systems and software lifecycle working practices. 
  • Provide effective feedback to encourage development of the individuals and teams responsible for systems and software lifecycle working practices. Provide guidance and make suggestions to support continual improvement and learning approach. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis and identify recommendations for improvements. Engage and collaborate with operational stakeholders. 
  • Provide effective leadership to the project team, adopting suitable project management methods and tools. Manage change control processes and assess risks, ensuring projects align with governance frameworks and business priorities. 
  • Proactively monitor performance metrics, implementing preventive and corrective actions as needed. 
  • Contribute to identifying new areas of capability improvement within the organization such as enhancements to skills, technology or processes. 
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance, customer satisfaction, adherence to security requirements and market intelligence. Validate that suppliers' performance is in accordance with contract terms. 
  • Develop and implement knowledge management processes, practices and behaviours.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE GAME

Education & Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent academic and professional experience. 
  • 5-8 years of experience in product management or related fields.
  • Possesses advanced expertise in the entire Product Management lifecycle, including strategic vision setting, market research, user research, Agile development methodologies, and stakeholder management, to ensure product increments align with organizational goals and industry trends.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of business ecosystems, enterprise applications, cloud and data center technologies, and SDLC methodologies, with proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and tools like Jira and Confluence, to effectively manage product budgets, resources, and technology integration.
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, enterprise applications, Automation, integration services, data management, cloud and data center technologies, cybersecurity, DevSecOps.
  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).
  • Skilled in facilitating stakeholder collaboration, building trust and partnerships, and effectively communicating with all organizational levels, while leveraging data analysis and market insights for metrics-driven decision-making and prioritizing product requirements based on Minimum Viable Products.
  • Skilled in establishing environments for the secure development and continuous improvement of software and systems, and investigating business situations to recommend improvement actions.
  • Provides leadership and support in assessing organizational capabilities, aligning supplier performance with sourcing strategies, and delivering project outcomes through effective management techniques, collaboration, and governance.
