Job Description
What will you work on?
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst, will be a key player in the financial closing of the multiple entities at Spin Master, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and providing valuable insights for financial decision-making. This role supports the accounting department in maintaining efficient and effective financial records, managing month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes and preparing financial reports. The successful candidate will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, dead-line oriented environment.

How will you create impact?
The roles and responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:

  • Full cycle booking of journal entries including revenue recognition, expense drawdowns, accruals, and payroll.
  • Ownership and maintenance of prepayment and deferred revenue schedules.
  • Monthly drawdown and booking of deferred revenue.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly HST returns after appropriate approvals.
  • Ensuring proper classification and recording of financial transactions.
  • Processing fixed assets runs and maintaining fixed asset schedules.
  • Reviewing financial data to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial transaction recording.
  • Supporting quarterly and year-end internal and external audits with documentation and analysis.
  • Participating in special projects and strategic initiatives with accounting support and insights.
  • Maintaining strong internal controls and contributing to efficiency improvements and risk mitigation.
  • Performing ad-hoc financial analysis to support business operations and decision-making.
  • Preparing financial reports and analysis for management.

What are your skills and experience?

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience preferably in public company setting
  • CPA or, at a minimum, pursuing a CPA designation
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Strong computer literacy with advanced level Excel skill (pivot table, v-lookups, and advanced formulas)
  • Previous experience with SAP or other ERP systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong self-initiative to operate independently
  • Creative problem-solving skills and motivation to improve processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
