Role Title: Compliance Officer
Reports to: Corporate Compliance & Risk Director
Location: Canada
Business unit: Compliance and Risk
Role Purpose
Responsibility & Accountability for supporting the Compliance and Risk Manager with analytical and reporting activity in the relevant country area including Corporate and partners sales areas.
Key Accountabilities
Technical Activities:
- Compliance and Risk analysis & support of all activity in the country area as relevant/required, including Corporate and partners sales areas, across processes relevant to the role, including:
- Regulatory analysis & reporting for the country relevant e.g. IUAR/SAR & Sanctions alerts/escalations & report filings, FIU/LEA engagement
- Analysis & support of Operational Compliance Control for onshore processes for their country e.g. Due Diligence (Corporate & Consumer), control checks, training, transaction monitoring alerts and escalations
- Support the Risk management framework as relevant/required in the country.
- Internal Reporting – compilation, provision & support of the relevant & appropriate global & local Compliance & Risk reporting frameworks are functioning & operational within the country area; ensure feeds & consistency with Global Standards & Approach.
Produce accurate, timely and relevant MI for the Global Compliance & Risk Reporting Framework including:
Local internal reporting
- External regulatory reporting
- Relevant Country area Management Teams
- Relevant Country area Legal Entity Boards & Risk Committees
Relationship Management
- Maintain sound professional working relationships with other Compliance & Risk Teams, Business Development Management as well as Support & Shared Service colleagues, business staff and management, building their confidence and acquiring an understanding of the business.
- Provide support to the functional Compliance & Risk team.
- Engage in two-way discussion about changes that affect the team,
- Participate in a PDR at least annually.
Communication
- Responsible for supporting & maintaining pro-active and regular communication with other areas of Compliance & Risk and the business in relation to the Country, including and support/shared services.
- Actively communicate and seek feedback from colleagues and customers.
- Communicate daily and weekly delivery performance levels to your team.
- Be supportive and encourage support for "people initiatives" e.g. Your Voice, Travelex Awards etc
- Play a participative part in Team Briefs.
- Be proactive in the provision of feedback and the delivery of ideas to develop and improve solutions relating to Travelex Compliance & Risk
General
- Undertakes any necessary training associated with the duties of the post and participates in training and development procedures.
- Complies with all Company Health and Safety policies and legislation in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
- Maintains confidentiality and observes data protection guidelines.
- Manage expenses in accordance with Company Expense Policy.
- Carries out any other reasonable duties commensurate with their capability.
Essential
Experience and personal qualities
- Compliance and risk awareness with a good understanding of the compliance challenges facing the business.
- Understands the impact of wider compliance issues on the business.
- Able to present solutions and influence final decision of line manager.
- Able to challenge and influence business decisions.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Manages and plans own workload.
- Ability to translate research and analysis well into reasoned recommendations that informs effectively the decision-making process.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office.
Desirable
- Relevant business knowledge and experience of two regions, distribution channels or entities.
- Relevant qualification
- Actively makes recommendations and solutions upwards
- Gives valuable insight by demonstrating a deep understanding of the issues highlighted in the analysis and research
