**Summary of Duties**

Reporting to the Director, Legal Services and General Counsel, the Compliance Officer will be a member of the Compliance Office responsible for the operation of an institution-wide relationship disclosure and management (conflict of interest) and compliance program. Responsibilities of the role include coordinating the disbursement and collection of relationship disclosure forms through a web-based database, reviewing disclosures for completeness, checking reported information against internal and external databases, assessing and determining whether disclosed relationships give rise to real or perceived conflicts of interest, developing appropriate management plans based on Hospital established requirements and guiding and educating staff, physicians, researchers and executives on conflict of interest matters. The Compliance Officer will be required to triage complex disclosed relationships that require review by the Hospital’s Business Relationship Management Committee (BRMC), including the preparation of case summaries and other meeting materials and reports. The Compliance Officer will participate in planning, developing and conducting education and training on compliance and relationship management and will be responsible for keeping up-to-date on regulatory and other external events affecting compliance and relationship management. In addition to providing services at Sunnybrook, the Compliance Office at Sunnybrook has established partnerships with external healthcare organizations to provide similar compliance services. Part of the duties of the Compliance Officer will be to support the provision of such services.

An integral part of this job is liaising effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at other healthcare organizations and being comfortable working with people and systems within and outside of Sunnybrook including Compliance Officer at other health care institutions and educational institutions as well as government departments.
