  • $21 - $25 / hour, commensurate with experience
  • Profit sharing, matching RRSP, medical benefits, and starting 3 weeks paid time off
  • Opportunity to work on award-winning projects, while achieving personal and career growth with a fantastic team

It's not every day you come across an opportunity to work with a company you can feel good about – in a rewarding environment, working towards a clear and exciting vision, as part of an optimistic, hardworking, and high-performing team.

And with your talent in building landscapes, comfort taking the lead, turning design into reality, and ability to plan ahead, you're made to be our new Lead Hand in Landscape Construction.

From creative craftsmanship in stone and wood, delicate plantings, casual outdoor living, environmental shore solutions, and docking systems, at Hutten & Co. Land and Shore, we create refreshing spaces that connect our rugged land and shores into a place of natural beauty. It's not easy work, but the satisfaction is huge.

We love what we do and want like-minded people to join our team. So, if you're looking for an opportunity to take the next step in your landscape construction career, look no further.

As our new Lead Hand, you will be responsible for project execution, assistant leadership, quality workmanship, and short-term planning.

If you were working for us, here are some of the things you would have done last week:

  • Assist the Crew Leader with periodic supervision, delegation, coordination, and execution of day-to-day work activities of a small crew of 2-3 people
  • Assist the Crew Leader in managing safety, quality, and productivity of all work
  • Interpretation of blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications
  • Layout of work areas to required elevations, grades, and drainage requirements
  • Mathematics, site calculations, and material quantity take-offs
  • Operation of chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
  • Operation of heavy equipment, including skid steer, excavator, and loader
  • Operation of crew truck and trailer at AZ level
  • Completion of complex and detailed projects of stone, wood, water, plantings, etc.
  • Periodically complete and submit required paperwork or electronic logs on a daily basis as required, including daily site meetings, planning reports, attendance/time keeping
  • Complete and submit daily planning to coordinate completion of project goals, prepare for project tasks, and identify project needs & obstacles
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas

Success in this role will be about so much more than just quality landscape work completed efficiently. Just as importantly, it will be about making our customers happy by bringing their visions to life while contributing to our team's growth and people-focused culture through taking the lead on smaller projects while supporting the Crew Leader in leadership.

This is an incredible opportunity for someone looking to grow in their career, challenge themselves, and take accountability, all while gaining leadership experience.

Working @ Hutten & Co. Land and Shore

We expect strong performance and participation, and in return, work hard to make employment here an exceptional career experience. We offer strong coaching and training, team collaboration, an open-book management style, and we celebrate wins together regularly with quarterly parties and company BBQs

The Details

This is a full-time, seasonal job, working at job sites across the Bruce Peninsula, from Tobermory to Lion's Head, Wiarton, Port Elgin, Sauble Beach, Georgian Bluffs, Meaford, and Markdale. Outside of the Landscape Construction season, there are opportunities to join our Snow department.

If the idea of living and working in Ontario's recreational hub excites you, this could be a perfect opportunity to relocate and take advantage of all that Georgian Bay living has to offer.
