Lumber Lead

Riverbend Co-op is currently seeking a Lumber Lead to support daily operations in our Home & Building Solutions (HABS) department in Davidson, Sk.
This is a hands-on leadership role that works closely with the Yard Supervisor, the HABS sales team, and contractor customers to ensure the lumber yard runs safely, efficiently, and customer-ready.

What You Will Be Doing
As the Lumber Lead, you will support the execution of daily yard and warehouse operations:
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting daily workflow and task coordination in the lumber yard and warehouse.
- Working closely with the Yard Supervisor to prioritize tasks, product flow, and safety.
- Collaborating with HABS Sales Representatives to support contractor orders, special requests, and product availability.
- Assisting contractor customers with order preparation, loading, and product questions as needed.
- Providing guidance and direction to yard attendants and clerks when assigned.
- Supporting onboarding and training of new yard team members.
- Overseeing receiving, storage, rotation, and condition of lumber and building materials.
- Ensuring product is organized, clearly labeled, and ready for selection.
- Communicating inventory gaps and low-stock items proactively.
- Operating forklifts and yard equipment safely and competently.
- Identifying hazards and taking immediate corrective action to protect staff and customers.
- Maintaining yard, warehouse, and delivery areas to high housekeeping and safety standards.
- Following all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and Co-op policies without exception.
What You Will Need
- Grade 12 education preferred.
- Previous experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, or building supply environment.
- Experience operating forklifts and yard equipment (or willingness to be trained).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with operations and sales teams.
- Comfortable providing direction and support to others.
- Safety-focused, reliable, and proactive.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work outdoors in varying conditions.
- WHMIS and safety training considered an asset (or willingness to complete).
