Junior Accountant Clerk (3 Month Contract to Permanent Position)

Apex Protein International Inc is a fast growing company in the protein importing and exporting business. We service local and international protein partners with a various list of protein products. We are experiencing tremendous growth and we are looking for resourceful, experienced, and energized professionals to join our growing team.

We are hiring an Junior Accountant to work from our head office in Mississauga Ontario. Reporting to the Controller, This is going to be a full time position

The successful candidate will have a desire to contribute to our rapidly growing company. This role will be responsible for full Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable duties

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:


• Process outgoing and incoming payments in compliance with policies and procedures.


• Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, sorting, entering, posting transactions into SAGE 200.


• Prepare and post invoices, bank deposits and inventory adjustments


• Reconcile the accounts receivable & payable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted, conducting bank reconciliation.


• Verify discrepancies and resolve clients' billing issues


• Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients


• Identify day-to-day priorities and ensure the work is completed on time with 100% accuracy


• Perform clerical duties as required & or assigned


• Assist in weekly vendor payment runs

QUALIFICATIONS:


• A degree/diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration


• Minimum 2 years of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable


• Solid understanding of accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulation


• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records


• Hands-on experience working with accounting ERP software is a must, knowledge of SAGE products is an asset.


• Proficiency in MS Office; intermediate to advance MS Excel knowledge including experience using pivot tables, v-lookup, etc. is required.


• Must be customer-oriented with excellent communications skills, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.


• Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills


• Experience working in a distribution company; fast paced environment
