Extrusion Operator

Master Halco, North America's leading manufacturer/distributor of fencing and perimeter security products is seeking an Extrusion Operator. The Extrusion Operator operates complex wire coating/extruding machines, including threading wire, loading with PVC and dye, and controlling speed, temperature, and finish gauge.

This position will work under limited supervision after training to operate complex equipment in the continuous manufacturing process of producing woven chain link fence. The associate will also be responsible for the set-up and operation of machines, inspecting for quality, and troubleshooting problems.

Responsibilities:

• Selects correct gauge and finish of wire for coating using verbal instructions from Supervisor.
• Loads machine with wire stand and threads machine with wire end.
• Selects correct dye material from verbal instructions, measures and loads into machine.
• Loads machine with PVC pellets.
• Selects speed and temperature setting and starts machine. Monitors machine operation and watches for tangles and obstructions.
• Corrects minor problems and notifies Supervisor of major problems.
• Visually inspects quality of wire as it comes from machine and performs mechanical inspection on the gauge of coating using micrometer and other equipment.
• Cleans the machine between color changes and performs periodic minor maintenance including oiling and minor repairs, and adjustments as needed.
• Weighs and tags all extruded wire.
• Prepares wire for ship-out to plants and customers.
• Keeps own and adjacent work area clean.
• Performs related and incidental work assignments as directed.

Qualifications:

• Physically able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Team player, leads by example.
• Must speak French.
